Singe Mechanic

Singe is a status effect unique to Embercrest. When applied to an enemy plate, its highest corner gets -1. Singed plates also allow flip checks to pass through to the card behind them. But the real power is consumption: during a flip check, if your plate has a consume ability, you can burn available Singe from the field for bonus power — +1 per corner, +2 per side, or +4 for all corners depending on tier. Consumed Singe triggers Ember Cascade, spreading to 1 adjacent un-singed enemy.

Starter Strategy

Your chosen Heroic sets the consume tone: Pyrelord Kaelith for Scorch + Brand aggression, Vulcanis for Eruption + Hearth defense, or Infernus for Detonate + Brand. The Rares split along Embercrest's three chains: Blazeborn Captain drives Wildfire (stoke + brand), Magma Channeler sits on Veinsurge (spark + kindle), and Pyre Guardian anchors Charged with Scorch.

The 13 Uncommons are the singe engine: four Stoke/Spark appliers, two Brand capturers, two Kindle defenders, plus Ember for offense consume and a single-copy Charcoal Runner with Hearth. The 20 Commons mirror that mix — eight singe-applying or consuming plates, two Brand capturers, two Hearth defenders, and Magma Mote as a reliable 8-corner vanilla body.
